Gerry's birthday
On a very quiet day of the 16th day of March, about so and so years ago from today, a very loud boy was born... errr... delivered... dropped down by aliens... anyway, the proud parents named him Gerry.
Today he is celebrating his Birthday again on another country hundreds of miles away from home and family.
This time, alone...consuming double cheese burger at mcdo.

Sabi ng lola ko, huwag daw ako mag gupit ng kuko kapag biyernes – malulungkot daw ako. Sabi din ng ibang lola huwag din daw tayo magpagupit ng buhok kapag biyernes – baka daw hindi na ito tumubo muli. sabi din ng mga matatanda marami pang hindi dapat gawin kapag biyernes, lalo na kung “Friday the 13th”.
“2009” na pero marami pa din sa atin ang naniniwala sa kamalasan ng “Friday the 13th”. Nakatatawa pero isa siguro ako sa mga ‘partial believers’, siguro ay dahil sa mga nadinig ko sa aking lola at sa mga mapamahiin kong kamag-anak. At alam ko din na isa sa inyo ang kagaya ko na may ‘takot’ sa araw na ito.
Walang duda na ang ‘Friday the 13th’ ang mapagkakasunduaan nating pinakamalas na araw. Bakit??? Sa dami ng mga naisulat, salaysay, pelikula at tsismis tungkol sa araw na ito ay garantisado na pati ang magiging apo natin ay ito din ang iisipin. “Kwento ng matatanda”, iyan daw ang pinaka simpleng dahilan, bakit? Walang nakakaalam. Ngunit napakaraming ekspalanasyon tungkol dito, nasa sa iyo na kung maniniwala ka. Kasama na dito yung kwento na “Friday the 13th” daw noong kagatin ni adan ang mansanas ni eba. Ayon di sa bible mayroong 13 tao sa Last Supper. At ang isa sa mga bisita…disipulo-ang ang nag-hudas! Biyernes din daw naganap ang “Crucifixion”. At ayon sa “The Da Vincci Code” ni pareng Dan Brown, na sa isang madugong biyernes daw naganap ang pag huli at pag lipol sa mga “warrior monks”, ang legendary “Knights Templar”.
Iba pang LASMA sabi ng mga lola.
Kapag 13 tao daw ang nagsalo sa hapag-kainan, ang lahat daw ay mamamatay sa loob ng isang taon. Kung ang bilang daw ng letra sa pangalan mo ay 13, magkakaroon ka daw ng “devils luck” (Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Saddam Hussein, Imelda R Marcos all have 13 letters in their names). Huwag daw magpapalit ng kobre kama kapag biyernes, at baka daw bangungutin ka. Hindi din daw dapat bumiyahe kapag araw ng biyernes., malapit daw sa aksidente. Malas daw magpakasal ng biyernes. Hindi ka daw dapat maligo sa araw ng biyernes kapag lampas na ng ala-singko ng hapon. Atbp.

Kapag mayroon swerte, syempre meron din malas. Sa negosyo, sa pag-ibig, sa isports sa sugal atbp. Hindi nga ba’t kapag di ka manalo sa “pusoy dos” ay agad na naisip mo na “malas ang katabi mo”. Pero bakit nga malas ang “Friday the 13th” ? Ewan ko. Ang mabuti pa niyan ay mag-ingat na lang tayo, hindi lang tuwing “Friday the 13th”, dapat araw-araw, naniniwala ka man o hindi sa mga bagay na mahirap ipaliwanag.
Kaya ngayong “Thursday the 12th” mag-ingat sa lahat ng bagay. Kung ikaw ay nasa trabaho… mag-ingat mapagalitan ng boss. Kung nasa bahay ka naman… mag-ingat sa gawaing bahay. Kung nagmamaneho ka naman… “eyes on the road, not on that broad!”. At kung nasa Pinas ka naman… mag-ingat sa madurukot!

Working as F & B Supervisor at the Polo Club for many years has given me a few valuable skills:
1) The ability to “juggle” about sixteen different tasks at once and accomplish them in a timely manner while anticipating the next fifty tasks I'll be juggling over the next hour. Kaya ko din itong gawin without pointing and laughing at coworkers who cannot do this, or iyong mga guests/members who assume na madali lang iyon at iniisip na they could do this better than me.
2) The ability to "dumb down" pretty much anything I say into something the most dim-witted person can understand without laughing at them or saying “NGEK!!!” in shock. Example:
Guest: "How big is your 12 inch pizza?"
Me: “12 inches po.”
Isa pa:
Guest: “Iced Lemon Tea for me please.”
Me: “Excellent choice madam.”
Guest: “Without ice please.”
Me: “iyon tubig po aalisin ko din?” (joke lang)
3) The ability to “calculate” 20% of any amount, na apparently sabi nila, is a skill that few people possess. (naks!)
4) The ability to “conceal” feelings of hate and revenge with an impression of friendliness, respect, and concern. Basta para sa akin trabaho lang yan. Alam ko naman na not everyone fully understand the horror of everyday server life. No one, other than servers, understands the trials and drama that come along with waiting tables.
5) The ability to discretely “correct and teach” the guest if they obviously don’t know what is that little fork on his left is used for. Imagine… labingdalawang klase ng cutlery sa harap mo! Talaga namang nakakalito!
6) The ability to “Petiks”. Be Unseen. Be Invisible, while working.
Ay! Ikaw din?

no stranger.
I will be trying to blog as much as I can, but this time you will mostly see a collection of photographs that I have taken during my spare time. Work has been taking over most of my time at the moment; the only time I have to sit in front of my computer and try to post something for my blog is after a tiring day at work.
But as I have promised to you (myself included), I will be doing this on a more regular basis. The pictures that I’m posting are all unedited (so please bear with me), as an amateur photographer I’m still experimenting on the technical side of photography, so if you have any comments or suggestions I’ am more than grateful to receive any comments from you.
Photography has been my passion for many years, and I’m so thankful that I have the chance and the experience to be in this era of digital photography, it makes the craft easy and complicated at the same time (if you know what I mean).
I maybe new in photography but I’m no stranger to the creative arts.
